green detox smoothie

I don’t think there is a better way to get in your greens, than with a smoothie! 🙂 This green detox smoothie is made with only 5 ingredients! And it’s ready in less then 5 minutes.. So now you definitely don’t have an excuse anymore to not eat those vegetables!!

So it’s easy, quick and delicious :-). Besides that smoothies have a lot of other benefits. Smoothies work detoxifying. What detoxifying?? Yes detoxification or detox is a term used in the natural medicine. It means that you internally cleanse the body of wastes and toxins.

Some people even do a juice cleanse for a few days to totally get rid of toxins in their body. When you do a cleanse you drink only juice for a few days. But if you just drink 1juice a day you’ll also already see a lot of benefits 🙂

protein smoothie

Smoothies are ideal for breakfast. This smoothie recipe is perfect to start the day. It contains a lot of protein thanks to the  spirulina and protein powder. This detoxifying smoothie also contains spinach. Spinach is a leafy green that’s a great source of amino acids (protein), calcium, beta carotene (vitamin A), vitamin K, iron, manganese, magnesium, zinc, folate, and selenium. Spinach is also great for strengthening the body, creating beautiful skin, boosting the immune system, and providing important antioxidants. And last but not least is spinach full of fiber which is great for cleansing the colons.

Because this smoothie is so high in protein you can also drink it after your work-out! The ingredients of this smoothie will help restore and rebuild the cells. This is essential after a work-out to prevent soreness and muscle loss.

Recipe Green Detox Smoothie

Ingredients

How to

Add the spinach, kiwi, coconut milk, spirulina powder and protein powder to a blender. Blend the ingredients until you get a smooth mixture. You can add in some ice if you like to have a cold smoothie. I used frozen spinach in this recipe. The frozen spinach makes the smoothie much more creamier. You don’t need to use ice if you use frozen spinach. If you prefer a more liquid smoothie use fresh spinach leaves instead of frozen spinach.

The protein powder is optional. If you have certain fitness goals and you want to get in some more protein this is an ideal way to up your protein intake.
